Mervin Stone

June 15, 1927 - November 30, 2010

Mervin L. Stone, 83, of Janesville died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Mercy Hospital. Mervin was born in Janesville on June 15, 1927, the son of Cephus and Lela (Trappe) Stone. A life-long Janesville resident, he married Virginia Vobian on December 18, 1948. Mervin was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served during World War II. He was employed by Wisconsin Power & Light Company (Alliant Energy) for 38 years. Mervin was a life-member of Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Virginia, 1 daughter, Suzanne Fryda of Edgerton, 1 son, James Stone of Janesville, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Dorothy Hall and Maryann Roberts, 1 brother, Stanley Stone, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gina Louise Stone, his parents, 5 brothers and sisters, Jane Gifford, Leon Stone, Beulah Eckert, Betty Nielson and Donald Stone.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville with visitation for one hour prior to the services Thursday. Private interment will be in Town of Rock Cemetery. Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. www.henkeclarson.com.
